TRAINING ON MICROBIOLOGY PT SAMPLES PREPARATION
DATE :6th -10th MAY 2024
REGISTRATION DEADLINE DATE : 26th APRIL 2024
VENUE : CHROM AFRICA LABORATORIES - NAIROBI
COST : KSH. 92800.00 OR USD 928.00
COURSE OVERVIEW
Proficiency testing (PT) is a means of external quality assessment that is one of the main facets of the Chemiluminescence Immunoassay(CLIA) quality system for non-waived testing. It is a valuable tool for assessing laboratory performance and verifying the accuracy and reliability of test results. The training is highly hands on, and each trainee will learn to independently prepare proficiency testing(PT) samples for the different species of bacteria in water, they will also be able to perform total plate count in food samples, learn about QC requirements for the PT sample preparation and how to analyse their results. They will always be guided and assessed by our highly experienced trainers.
METHODS
ISO Guide 34:2009 for microbiology PT samples preparation
EQUIPMENT
As per methods need
KEY ASPECTS FOR TRAINING ON MICROBIOLOGY PT SAMPLE PREPARATIONS
The objectives of training on microbiology proficiency testing (PT) sample preparations are multifaceted and crucial for maintaining high-quality laboratory performance. Here are the key aspects:
1.Quality Assurance and Improvement:
2.Understanding PT:
3.Integration into the Measurement Cycle:
In summary, PT training on microbiology sample preparations aims to foster accuracy, reliability, and compliance in laboratory practices, ultimately contributing to robust analytical outcomes.

- Monitoring Routine Analytical Measurements: PT provides a framework for laboratories to regularly assess their performance by comparing results with those of other labs.
- Infrastructure for Quality Control: It ensures that laboratories can monitor and enhance the quality of their routine analytical measurements.
2.Understanding PT:
- Definition: PT involves evaluating participant performance against pre-established criteria through interlaboratory comparisons.
- Primary Aim: To facilitate laboratories in improving their microbiological measurements by providing external and independent assessments1.
3.Integration into the Measurement Cycle:
- PT is a vital component within the measurement cycle, alongside other elements like method validation, calibration, and external comparison.
- It contributes to ensuring the validity of results and maintaining overall quality.
In summary, PT training on microbiology sample preparations aims to foster accuracy, reliability, and compliance in laboratory practices, ultimately contributing to robust analytical outcomes.
