The Rhône-Poulenc Lectureship was awarded for notable contributions to organic chemistry. The lectureship was founded in 1984 to mark the sesquicentenary of what was then May & Baker Ltd.
The prize became the Merck Research Lectureship in 2001, and continues to this day as our Merck, Sharp & Dohme Award.
