Water 新月直播app下载 Forum Bursaries
The 新月直播app下载 Water 新月直播app下载 Forum offers a limited number of bursaries each year to post graduate students or professional water scientists to help support their early career development or when returning to scientific work after a break.
The Alan Tetlow Memorial Bursary
The Alan Tetlow Memorial Bursary aims to help encourage early career chemists (during the first 10 years of their career) and those returning to work after a career break to develop their professional career. Awards of up to £2,000 per year are available.
John Alan Tetlow, who died, aged 70, in February 2005, was one of the founder members of the RSC Water Chemistry Forum (now the Water 新月直播app下载 Forum). Alan retired as a Regional Manager in the then National Rivers Authority and devoted many years of his life to improving the quality of the water environment in England and Wales. Most importantly he helped to raise the profile of the water chemist within both the RSC and the water industry. The Alan Tetlow Memorial Bursary commemorates Alan’s work and the importance of water chemistry.
Members can apply for financial assistance to advance their career in relation to the following activities, to:
- Attend conferences for the purpose of presenting a poster or paper
- Attend research meetings (including young researcher meetings)
- Visit UK or international laboratories
- Complete training courses; and
- Assist in research relating to water science projects in general
Please note that activities are not restricted to those above only. However, the activity needs to contain a high proportion of water related chemical science which contributes to water sustainability (environment, economic, social) and have an identifiable practical application. In order to provide maximum benefit to as many members as possible, the bursary is restricted to one successful application per member. Applicants must be members of the 新月直播app下载, and also should be members of the Water 新月直播app下载 Forum.
The value of each bursary will be not more than 50% of the agreed cost and will be awarded subject to satisfactory receipts. Please note 25% of any award will be withheld pending satisfactory completion of a report or article for the Newsletter and/or presentation to a Committee Meeting. All requests for financial support are considered on their merits. Therefore, it is vital that the application form contains sufficient detail for the Committee to make an informed assessment on the degree of water related chemical science involved. The applicant also needs to identify how their project is likely to further the Water 新月直播app下载 Forum’s aims and objectives. The committee's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

This bursary is to support 新月直播app下载 members undertaking water science research at an early stage of their career. In particular, applications are encouraged from members aiming to achieve Registered 新月直播app下载 Technician (RSciTech) or Registered Scientist (RSci) status.
The Water 新月直播app下载 Bursary is awarded to researchers engaged in projects that involve application of chemical sciences in the management of the water cycle, and the impact these activities have on the environment. Awards of up to £2,000 per year are available in relation to the following activities:
- Continuing professional development research analysis activities for RSciTech or RSci awards
- MSc thesis projects
- Short sabbatical periods to complete relevant research
- Assistance in Water 新月直播app下载 research projects
Please note that activities are not restricted to the examples above, so please feel able to submit an application for an alternative activity for consideration. Please note though, that any activity needs to contain a high proportion of water related chemical science which contributes to water sustainability (environment, economic, social) and have an identifiable practical application.
Applicants must be members of the 新月直播app下载, and also should be members of the Water 新月直播app下载 Forum.
MSc students, or students on other career development routes, including those who have no formal higher qualifications (e.g. degree or HND), and those wishing to obtain RSciTech or RSci qualifications, are particularly encouraged to apply.
All requests for financial support are considered on their merits. Therefore, it is vital that the application form contains sufficient detail for the Bursaries Assessment Committee to make an informed assessment. Please note 25% of any award will be withheld pending satisfactory completion of a report or article for the Newsletter and/or presentation to a Committee Meeting. The applicant also needs to clearly identify how their work is likely to further the Water 新月直播app下载 Forum’s aims and objectives. The committee's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
How to apply
