Our new scheme to support open access publishing
This year we launched a new pilot scheme to support the transition to open access (OA) publishing.
Corresponding authors at institutions with Read & Publish can publish gold OA in all hybrid ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥appÏÂÔØ journals. At the same time, the institution will gain access to our hybrid journal portfolio.
How does it work?
- Pay a tailored publishing fee to publish 100% gold open access
We calculate an institutions’ publishing fee by analysing the last full years’ publishing output from corresponding authors. Unless the author chooses to opt out, every accepted article from your corresponding authors will be published gold open access. - Pay a set reading fee to unlock access to every article
An institution then pays a set reading fee which gives the library perpetual access rights to the content published in our hybrid portfolio during the term of the contract.
Making open access the default of publishing
Max Planck Digital Library were one of our first customers to sign up to this new agreement:
We regard this new agreement with the ÐÂÔÂÖ±²¥appÏÂÔØ as another practical step in the transition from subscription to open access as envisioned in the OA2020 initiative. With this new approach we shift our payments and workflows in a way to make open access the default of publishing for our researchers.
