How do I upload my branding?

To upload your institution's logo, please prepare it as a jpeg or gif of 150w x 30h pixels, and log in to your librarians' portal account.

Why can't I access my content?

If the portal seems to be running slow, or you see an error message, please try the following options first:

use the 'back' button on the browser and complete the action again.
press CRTL and F5

If you continue to have problems, please fill in our , describing the error.

Do we need separate librarians' portal accounts?

We recommend that each institution or organisation registers at least one librarians' portal account that can be shared. If your account is managed by a distributor or agent, they they can set up an account on your behalf.

Can I set up static URL links to the volume or latest issue of a journal or the RSC Highlights?

Unfortunately not; we advise that you use the URL lists, which include sustainable links that will help in future redirections and minimise broken links. You should be able to easily access volumes and latest issues from these pages.

How do I credit your RSS feeds?

We are happy for you to use material from our RSS feeds on your website, or anywhere else where it will be publicly accessible, as long as you follow the following conditions:

Credit the originating web site with 'Reproduced by permission of The 新月直播app下载' or use the 新月直播app下载 or Chemistry World logo as appropriate.
Do not modify the text.
Do not post the full text of items on a publicly accessible web site.

Can I search for content by structure and sub-structure?

The RSC eBook Collection has been indexed by . Searching for a chemical structure using this service will provide links to our books where available.

Why is it that the keyword I entered is in the title of a book but that book is not showing up as being the most relevant in the search results?

The search engine searches the content of books for the number of times that a keyword appears in the text; this means that although the word appears in the title of the book, it does not necessarily appear more frequently within the book relative to other books in the collection. Thus the search engine does not identify it as being of higher relevance.

Why can't I find any titles published this year?

The data for our latest titles is a work in progress. so we'll be updating the eBook Collection throughout the year. The best way to find out when new information has been added is to .

I'd like to cite content I've read on the eBook collection, what format do I use?

Citation formats vary depending on the publication you are writing for, but please include the DOI of the chapter you have read – for example, DOI: 10.1039/9781847559968-00114.

Why is the author I am searching for not shown when I know they wrote for the RSC?

Not all of our books are included in the eBook collection, so it may be that the book in question was not included. To double check, you can contact our team.

How do I buy a print version of the books in the eBook collection?

The majority of books in the eBook collection are available to purchase via our .

Why is the book I want to buy not available from the books platform?

There may be a newer edition of the book you are looking for; please search by the book title. Also, a small number of books available in the collection are out of print. Please contact our team for confirmation.

Could I use my libraries catalogue system to find your books?

MARC21 records are available for the 1968–2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 collections to download from this website. If your library is subscribing to the eBook Collection then titles should appear in your institute's library catalogue as an 'online resource' or 'ebook'.

How does it work?

Purchase article download credits and let your users self-select journal articles from our entire portfolio. Each article downloaded will cost you 1 credit.

How many credits can I buy?

As many as you require. Credits can be bought in small quantities online, or in multiples of 25 through our sales team (1 credit = 1 article download). The more downloads you buy, the cheaper the cost per download.

How long do I have to use my credits?

You have 24 months from the date your account is first activated to use the article download credits.

What happens if I use all my credits before the 24 months is up?

You can buy more article download credits at any time. This can be before your current credits are used up.

Do you charge for multiple downloads of the same article?

Yes, each and every download of an article will cost 1 credit whether or not the article has previously been downloaded. You may of course store the article locally under the terms of the RSC Select licence agreement.

Is there a controlled access option available?

Yes, we can set up controlled access (that is, username / password needed to download an article) on request.

Will I be able to view the HTML version of the articles?

Downloaded articles are available as PDFs only.

Will I be charged VAT?

VAT will be applied where appropriate.

Can I download book chapters?

Currently, RSC Select applies to journal articles only.

Is RSC Select available to everyone?

RSC Select is not available to academic institutions. If you are an SME you can benefit from up to 75% discount on RSC Select purchases by joining our programme, designed to help your business develop and grow.

Is it possible to have a report on what has been downloaded?

We are currently not able to provide reports on what has been downloaded.

When was the new platform launched?

The new book platform was launched on 31st January 2023.

Why has a new platform been created?

The existing platform hadn’t had significant improvements for many years and we needed to make changes in order to deliver a better website. We did this by using a reputable third party, Silverchair, which has a proven track record of hosting academic publishing platforms.

What are the main benefits?

The books are more easily discoverable, which we understand is a high priority for editors, authors and the institutions that purchase our content. This is one of the main aims of the books strategy. The Silverchair platform is better set up for searching than our current books platform and it helps users easily find the content they want.
The digital reading experience has been improved, as readers have more options for how they wish to read their content online and can benefit from better functionality.
We are now able to sell digital books directly to individuals (as ePUB files for reading by an eReader). Previously, we could only sell print to individuals.鈥�
We also now publish digital versions of all our books on our own platform, including textbooks and popular science, and these will all be available for sale to institutions. Previously, these were only available through selected online book vendors.鈥�

How can I access the new platform?

Access to the new platform works in the same way you accessed the previous platform, via IP authentication or federated access (such as Shibboleth, Open Athens or others).

How can I access my existing content?

You continue to have access to all your existing content on the new platform.

How can I access MARC records and usage stats?

MARC records will continue to be hosted and made available via OCLC. Usage stats will continue to be provided by MPS. 鈥疉ny historic MARC records previously available on the RSC platform will continue to be made available on the new platform.

How can I log into the librarian portal?

There is a new librarian portal on the new platform. In order to be granted access to your institution’s librarian portal, please contact ejournals@rsc.org with your name, job title and individual email address which you would like to have affiliated to your institution’s books account. Access to the librarian hub that sits on pubs.rsc.org will remain and the login experience will not change.

If you had an account on our previous portal, please follow the instructions here to gain access to your new account.

How can I find URLs for my book content?

Our URL lists will be updated for you to update your catalogues, while MARC and KBART files will be unaffected and will continue to function as normal. Previous book and chapter URLs have been permanently redirected to the relevant content on the new platform, and so will continue to work indefinitely.
