Molecular Omics invites original research and review papers on the latest advances in lipidomics.

Lipidomics is a growing field in the -omics space, bringing together the advances in analytical solutions with bioinformatics to support evolution in the comprehensive study of lipids within biological systems. The advances in lipidomics offer unparalleled insights into the diverse roles lipids play in health and disease, holding immense promise for biomarker discovery and the early detection, prognosis, and monitoring of various diseases, including metabolic disorders, cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, lipidomics approaches are revolutionizing drug discovery by identifying lipid-based therapeutic targets and assessing drug efficacy and safety.

Beyond health, lipidomics extends its reach into food and nutrition science, shedding light on the impact of dietary lipids on human health and disease prevention. Moreover, lipidomics is increasingly being applied in marine and environmental studies, offering valuable insights in ecosystem health, pollutant monitoring, and climate change scenarios. In essence, lipidomics is not just a scientific endeavour but a tool for societal change, addressing pressing challenges such as public health and environmental sustainability through its multifaceted applications and analytical prowess.

This collection will present the most recent advances in lipidomics, from analytical advances to innovative solutions addressing societal challenges, across diseases, to food, microbiome and environmental fields.

This collection in RSC Chemical Biology and RSC Pharmaceutics will explore how both biological and synthetic tools can be leveraged to understand the impact of material structure on the migration of specific cellular barriers, aiming to enhance the delivery efficiency of macromolecules and delivery systems such as liposomes, lipid nanoparticles, and polymeric carriers. Key topics will include the following:

1. Novel tools to understand and quantify cellular trafficking of nanoparticles and their cargo, including processes such as endosomal escape, membrane fusion, cytosolic delivery and nuclear localisation.
2. Fundamental understanding of how nanoparticle structure impacts cellular interactions.
3. Design of new delivery systems that incorporate intelligent strategies to migrate biological barriers for more effective therapeutic delivery.
4. Novel tools, methodologies to understand and quantify cell uptake and the fate of the multiple components in drug delivery systems.
5. Tools/basic understanding on the role of the protein corona on the fate of the particles beyond the very general basic level

Ideally, computational work should be experimentally validated wherever possible. For articles to be accepted into the collection, the applications and relevance to chemical biology must be clear.

RSC Medicinal Chemistry and Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry invite original research and review papers on photoswitches and photopharmacology.

Molecular photoswitches are unique tools that allow us to selectively translate a benign and precise stimulus (light) into a change in molecular structure, thereby enabling the photocontrol of many key processes, most prominently those in biological systems. The research on molecular photoswitches encompasses many disciplines and research approaches, from physics and quantum mechanics, through chemistry and all the way to biology and medicine. We aim to represent this multidisciplinary and broad scope of photoswitch design and application in the web themed issue.

With this in mind, we welcome submissions on all topics pertaining to the development and characterization of molecular photoswitches, especially with the outlook on their biological and biomedical applications. The areas that are of special interest include (but are not limited to) the design, also computational, of (regular and visible-light-operated) photoswitches, their synthesis (including spectroscopic evaluation), applications in nanomedicine, photopharmacology, chemical biology, bio-sensing and imaging.
