This course is aimed at the synthetic chemists working in both medicinal/discovery chemistry and process chemistry and will be taught by experienced organic chemists and professional information specialists. Participants will learn how to comprehensively search for specific items such as compound and how to make it, and also to search more generally for precedent for a particular type. In addition, the use of databases to create retrosynthesis pathways will be covered. The patent literature is particularly important to industrial chemists and three sections will focus on patent searching. The course will also cover searching for information such as analytical and safety data, costings and supplier information.
