Many of the important scientific challenges that we face today, such as mitigating climate change, are highly complex and will likely only be met through the cooperation of scientists and engineers holding expertise in a range of disparate topics.
Professor Long’s research involves the synthesis of new molecules and materials with potential applications in clean energy utilization and environmental remediation. Examples include the synthesis of new porous materials for boosting the capacity of the fuel tank of a hydrogen-powered vehicle, efficiently capturing carbon dioxide from air or a power plant emission stream and removing toxic metal ions from water.
